Writer Gary Doberman told Den of Geek in June 2019 that his goal in the new version of “The Lot of Salem” is to make vampires scary again
Plot
The author returns to his hometown of Jerusalem in search of inspiration for his next book and discovers that its inhabitants are being attacked by a bloodthirsty vampire. He wants to move away from the more sexualized and romanticized undead that have flooded pop culture for much of the last quarter century, thanks to everything from Interview with the Vampire to Twilight and The Vampire Diaries. When Ben is reading old newspapers on microfilm in the library, the headline reads: “Local Couple Victims of Drunk Driving.” It is believed that the newspaper was printed in 1956, when the term “DUI” was not yet used. Well, I just watched one of my favorite Stephen King novels
I liked the 1979 version, which I eagerly watched when I was 15. I’ve been waiting to see it for quite some time, at least since the rumors of the upcoming remake. The film was not great, I gave it a six (which is perhaps too generous), because the film was watchable. I really hoped that it would be remade with the same script and acting as in “It”, when the last remake was shot.
The acting was just okay
Everything was a little wrong in this film. Character development was practically absent. They could have done a lot better to arouse interest in the characters. I think the ending was too rushed, the wild ending was horrible, some people should have slowed down a lot at this stage!
Why remake something if you don’t make it exceptional!
For what? Stephen King is an amazing writer, and if the production is done right, it should be amazing. Very disappointed… The latest season of What We Do in the Shadows is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
