With immediate effect the badminton club is returning to plastic shuttles. While we would like to continue playing with feathers, the cost of these is unsustainable. We don't want to increase the club fees, or reduce the number of courts available, so unfortunately we need to switch back to plastics. Members can bring their own feathers to play with on Sundays if they wish to continue with them.

 

LYC Success at Hamburg Tournament
27th October 2009

Another successful tournament for LYC! Two golds, a silver and a bronze! Steven won gold at A singles; Xiao and Dawn won gold at B+ mixed; Annie and Dawn won silver at B+ ladies; and Kevin and Max won bronze at B+ doubles.

We were very close to winning further medals too: Azri and Neil narrowly missed out on A mens final in 3 close sets, then again narrowly missed out on Bronze. Also, Robert narrowly missed out on the C+ mens final with his "blind date", before being edged out of bronze.

Feather Shuttles
1st September 2009

From 20 September, we will be playing with feather shuttles instead of plastic ones. We have secured a supply of an excellent quality shuttle and we are confident that this will enhance the enjoyment and competitiveness of Sunday play. We will need to monitor shuttle usage and plastic shuttles will continue to be available for those who would prefer to use them.

Membership Fees
1st September 2009

The LYC membership fee will be charged from 1st September for all members. If you have already paid the fee within the last year then you still need to re-new your membership but we will not charge you the full £8. There will be a pro-rata charge depending on when you paid within the last year. This means that all memberships will become renewable on 1st September every year for all members and is very much in line with the process followed by most sports clubs. It will also be much easier for us to administer!
